Marley Zeno is a rising junior at Oberlin College majoring in Politics. Marley was born and raised in Kirkland and takes immense pride in her Northwest background. In the Seattle area, Marley has worked with the Southern Sudanese Community of Washington, lobbied with Equal Rights Washington, volunteered with Children's Country Home (a home for children with severe physical and mental disabilities), organized a benefit concert for Friends of Youth (a non-profit offering support to homeless youth), coordinated a peer-tutoring program at the Overlake School, and assisted in a preschool. She has also volunteered in Nevada, working with the Western Shoshone, and in New Orleans. At Oberlin, Marley volunteered with Obama's presidential campaign, canvassing in the Oberlin area and recruiting other students for campaign activities and also volunteered with Ohio Public Interest Research Group, registering students to vote. Marley volunteers with the Murray Ridge-Oberlin College Alliance, an organization that fosters involvement between Oberlin College and the Murray Ridge community, which supports residents in Northeast Ohio with mental retardation and developmental disabilities. She is employed as a poster designer for the Oberlin Theater and Dance Program. She is thrilled to be back in the Northwest for the summer working with The Connections Group. |
